A Late Night Visitor

I had planned using a different photo for day 235 of my picture a day project, known as Project 365 in some circles. I was going to talk about the new vacuum cleaner I got and how I purchased it so Tanya would have everything she needed to keep the house spotless, and I could get rid of the maids. It would have been mildly amusing at best. Before I got around to posting the entry, Buddy and I went for a walk. When we got home, Buddy started going nuts. It was quite dark, so I could not see …

Photos From Spearfish Canyon

Photos of Our Ride Through Spearfish Canyon 70th Annual Black Hills Rally & Races 2010 On Saturday, I decided to take Tanya on a ride through Spearfish Canyon. The Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway is billed as one of the most beautiful rides in the country. We started off in Spearfish, then rode it to Deadwood, Boulder Canyon and back into Sturgis. It was kind of rainy, so I did not make as many stops as I would have if it was dry, but we enjoyed the ride thoroughly.

Morning Walks

Every morning and every evening that I am home, Buddy and I go out a walk a mile or two. It is said that a walk in the neighborhood is like reading the local paper for dogs. If this is true, Buddy is getting his fill of The Daily Breeze, the LA Times and USA Today. On top of that, we get to meet new dogs and see some interesting items along the way. That is why I bring a camera with me for every walk. My picture of the day for day 234 was taken on our morning walk. …

Photos of a day in Sturgis and Rapid City

Sturgis and Rapid City, SD 70th Annual Black Hills Rally and Races, August 2010 We woke up to an absolutely gorgeous day in South Dakota. Not too hot, not too cold. Well rested and a great latte prepared by Tanya (yes, she brought her latte machine and special blend of coffee with her), and we were ready to roll. I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of traffic. I had spoken to a few people on their way home from Sturgis and had been led to believe that there were more than 1.250 million attendees. Well, if there were that …

10th Street and The Strand

Back in the day, when I was young and studly, I used to have a pretty sweet work location. I did telephone installation and repair down at the beach. In fact, all the marinas and docks in the area were under my sole control. The guy that had the job before me made it look like it was really difficult. Since it was not, I made it look really easy and management just figured they should leave me alone and not distract me. I had it pretty good. Today I went to see Linda to get another haircut. Afterward, I …

Cheyenne, WY to Piedmont, SD

Photos from Wyoming and South Dakota The Final Leg of the Ride to the Black Hills Rally Thursday did not quite go as planned. I started off in Cheyenne, WY and should have been able to make it to Piedmont, SD (my destination) in five hours. Unfortunately, within minutes of leaving Cheyenne I knew there was something physically wrong with me as I had very little muscle control. Unfortunately, as I mentioned the other day, once you leave civilization in Wyoming you are pretty much committed to continuing on until you reach another big town. It just so happens that …

Grand Junction to Denver Pictures

Photos From I-70 In Colorado The ride from Grand Junction to Denver, CO Wednesday morning, I continued my ride to the 70th Annual Black Hills Rally and Races from Grand Junction, CO. I was doing well on the amount of miles traveled per day, so I was able to stop a little more frequently and enjoy the Colorado beauty found along I-70. This included going through the Eisenhower Tunnel, which is over 11,000 feet in elevation. This resulted in the temperatures dropping to the high 70’s and low 80’s. After spending the last few days in the high 90’s and …

Another fine day in paradise

Whenever I go away for a while, there is one thing I really look forward to upon arriving home. The weather. On my last day riding home from Sturgis I had to get up early so I could leave Las Vegas before it got too warm. The reason for this is that no matter how hot Las Vegas is, Baker and Barstow are probably going to be hotter. At least in the summer. It is exactly the opposite in the winter. Even though I left at 8:20 AM, the coolest temperatures I dealt with were in the upper 90’s, and …

The Road To Sturgis

Photos From Day One of the Ride To Sturgis [adrotate group=”6″] Torrance, CA to Grand Junction, CO 2010 was the 70th Annual Black Hills Rally & Races in Sturgis, S.D. The last time I went was in 2006 and I swore I would never return due to the amount of people that were now attending. If they all came on motorcycles instead of dragging them along on trailers it would not be so bad, but Sturgis just was not built for one million people. Since I got a new bike, and the price of gas went up, I figured it …

A Picture a Day, July 2010

Photo of the Day, Project 365 [adrotate group=”6″] July 2010 Photos Sorry this is late, but there was a legitimate reason which I will not go into here. July was a pretty active month. It started off with some friends taking me out to dinner and then to see Devo in concert. It was pretty fun. I should probably put up a gallery from the show. The next day I flew to Indiana to visit Tanya and to participate in the annual GotWebHost.com 4th of July Extravaganza. Tanya flew home with me to attend VidCon and then we spent several …
