It really hurts me to do this

Seriously, it is painful to sit and type at my laptop lately as I have injured myself. Unfortunately, my doctor is incompetent and my insurance company forces me to jump through hoops, so I guess I will have to toughen up for a while. It also means that most likely my photo a day project will be done in bursts rather than daily. So, here we go with a summary of the last few days. As my regular readers now, I am quite fond of Gu Gu Sushi and they created the GotBaddog.com roll for me. Since then I have …

Critter Cooler

Every Labor Day and Memorial Day weekends for the past 37 years Hermosa Beach holds their Fiesta Hermosa. It is a very large arts and crafts fair that has rides for the kids, a beer garden for the adults, and great food and music for everyone. I enjoy bringing Buddy there, because it is good training for him in that there are a ton of other people, scads of dogs and a bunch of skateboards. Buddy seems to enjoy it for all the attention he gets, and he really does seem to be in his element there. One advantage of …

Phil

Twenty some odd years ago I was riding out to Hermosa Beach to meet my then wife at our favorite watering hole for lunch. Soon after being seated, this guy I recognized vaguely came up to talk. In a nutshell, he had a Harley-Davidson Sportster and wanted to know where I went to have work done on my bike. I told him I did all my own work. He told us a story of woe, having brought his bike into a local shop that was notorious for doing crappy work. To make a long story short, I gave him my …

Getting to know you

Since I do travel a lot, it was decided that Buddy and my dad should get to know each other a little better. Yesterday, we went over to my dad’s and Buddy hung out for a while, then I let my dad take Buddy for a walk. Buddy is a pretty perceptive little guy and he is a quick learner, all we have to do is get my dad comfortable with handling the leash and issuing basic commands. Luckily, Buddy already knows he is supposed to sit at corners, so this should not take long. My photo of the day …

Just Think

While going for a couple walks a day may have health benefits and keep Buddy happy, I think what I like the most about it is that it gets me away from the house and computer, and gives me time to do some deep thinking. Okay, maybe it is not always deep thoughts, but I do use this time to plan out what I need to prepare for in the near to immediate future. My picture of the day for day 246 was taken while on my morning walk. I was making a mental list of what I need to …

Never Settle

I am not really sure why I bought this thing. It is not the kind of barbecue I like to use, at all. Maybe if I was barbecuing for large crowds, this unit would be appropriate, but for one or two people, it just does not make sense. It is too big to cook one or two steaks with. I guess I picked this one because I wanted a barbecue immediately and the establishment I was at did not sell the Weber Kettle, which would have been my first choice. So, I settled. My photo of the day for day …

The Miracle of Birth

The other day, my pregnant daughter-in-law made a comment about a photo she had seen of me on Facebook. In a not so subtle way, she suggested I was getting fat with a “sympathy belly.” It caused me to reflect back to when my two children were mere fetuses. I do not recall getting a sympathy belly back then, in fact, I went to the gym daily, so probably not much likelihood of that happening. I do remember the ultrasounds though. I figured there is no way I am about to grow a sympathy belly for my daughter-in-law, no matter …

Project 365 August Recap

A Picture a Day – Project 365 August 2010 August 2010 was a pretty fun month. I guess any month that more than half of it includes riding one of my bikes is a good month. Throw in a few days with my honey in Sturgis, a couple visits to Gu Gu Sushi and some quality time with Buddy and there really is not a lot to complain about. This gallery is a compilation of my picture a day project for August 2010.

Do not taze me bro

It took me three tries to write an introduction to this post, because I am still angry. This white trash, Jerry Springer regular looking meter reader for the Southern California Gas Company pepper sprayed my dog, in his own yard, while he was on the leash! Then when I call to complain, the supervisor starts talking about they are like cops and using “less than lethal” force. Are you kidding me? My picture of the day for day 243 shows some of the results of the attack on my dog, on his own property by the SoCal Gas Co. He …

Making Friends

Buddy and I were enjoying our leisurely morning walk when this attack dog appeared out of nowhere. At first he seemed a little apprehensive about approaching Buddy, but he quickly determined that we were not a threat to him. I am not sure that this was a good thing because I could not find the owner and the dog wanted to follow us home. I don’t need or want another dog. Eventually a neighbor decided to take charge of the stray and we made it home. My photo of the day for day 242 is Buddy and his new little …
