Photos from the Budris & Van Haren ribbon cutting

These photos are from the ribbon cutting ceremony for Budris & Van Haren, Attorneys at Law. There was an impressive turnout of Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce members; as well as The Mayor and about five city council members. The law firm of Budris & Van Haren specializes in both Criminal and Family Law. If you have a friend that needs help, don’t get involved. I am donating the watermark to the Rheumatoid Patient Foundation, to bring awareness to this organization which is the only one helping those with Rheumatoid Autoimmune Disease (RAD, otherwise known as Rheumatoid Arthritis/RA); and as …

Thirsty Bear: Tapas and craft beer

A couple weeks ago I went up to San Francisco to attend Ad Tech and the Marketers Ball. As I only went up for the day, I did not have a room to go to while killing time between the two events; I had a parking spot and there was no sense moving, so I called Tanya and had her do a search for a micro brewery that might be within walking distance. After a few minutes she came up with the Thirsty Bear, which happened to be just a couple of blocks away from where I was at the …

April Networking at Noon at The Crest

Tuesday was the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce’s April Networking at Noon; this time being held at The Crest on Cabrillo in downtown Torrance. The monthly Networking at Noon is a great way for Chamber members to meet informally over a [usually] nice lunch, exchange business cards and give a 30 second introduction to remind people what service their business provides. It is also an opportunity for the host restaurant to showcase their establishment. Unfortunately, I think The Crest proved to be a pretty poor place to try and conduct a meeting. Sharing an area with regular bar customers was …

A visit with Tanya’s new Rheumatologist

Yesterday, Tanya went to see a new Rheumatolgist, Dr. Solomon Forouzesh in Culver City. Since her move to Southern California, this has been her first visit to a doctor about her Rheumatoid Autoimmune Disease. As I have mentioned in prior posts, we are seriously considering going to Panama to take advantage of the adult stem cell therapy that is available there. Since she has not been to a doctor since the middle of last year, it was decided that it only made sense to get a checkup so we could see where she was at. After doing significant research, Tanya …

Easter at Dad’s 2012

This Easter we went over to my dad’s to have dinner with a few siblings, assorted relatives and friends of my dad. I did not count, but I was told 14 or 15 of us were there. There was good food and wine and fellowship. I am posting these photos because I know the relatives can see them all and to help bring awareness to the Rheumatoid Patient Foundation which is the only organization out there helping those suffering from this deadly disease. Did you know Rheumatoid Autoimmune Disease (RAD), aka Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), can kill the victim? No money …

A touch of Germany at the Alpine Inn in Torrance

This review is of the Alpine Inn at Alpine Village in Torrance, CA. A couple of weeks ago, Tanya and I had lunch at the Alpine Inn during a networking event with the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce. We were impressed enough with the lunch that we figured we would have to make a return visit. As we were exiting I noticed a large chalkboard with numerous micro-brewery beers on tap listed. An Oatmeal Stout caught my eye, and I knew we would return. As it turns out, it was sooner than expected as we returned this past Sunday. I …

Photos from the Marketers Ball 2012 at 1015 Folsom, starring Too Short

After leaving ad:tech at the Moscone Center, I grabbed some dinner then headed over to 1015 Folsom for The Marketers Ball. The concert starred Too Short with a live band and included DJ YT Cracker, the Black Rock City Allstars and MASK featuring Money B. Sponsored by FriendFinder Networks and Infinite Traffic, promoter Darren Blatt’s many years of experience putting on these shows provided a very fun time for anyone that attended.

Photos from Tuesday at Ad Tech 2012 San Francisco

These photos were taken Tuesday at the digital marketing conference and expo, Ad:Tech 2012. Once again, the B2B conference and trade show was held at Moscone Center in San Francisco. I only had a few hours there so I did not get a chance to catch any keynotes to speak of, but it was good running into people that I have known over the years on the trade show circuit; and seeing what is new. While the standard exhibits of SEO/SEM service providers, ad networks and payment processors remain, there is a definite increase of exhibitors providing services in mobile …

An American’s view of Barcelona – Street photography

Earlier this month I went to Barcelona, Spain to cover a trade show. In the past, Tanya would join me on my travels, be they be within the country or overseas. Unfortunately, her Rheumatoid Autoimmune Disease (RAD aka Rheumatoid Arthritis or RA) has made international travel a thing of the past for her. Hopefully she will find a good drug combination that will put her back into remission, but until that happens I will be doing most of my travels solo. Since Tanya is unable to travel with me and I take far too many photos for her to sit …

Networking at Noon at the Alpine Village

Today we met with the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) again for another Networking at Noon; this time at the Alpine Inn at Alpine Village in Torrance, CA. It was a well attended event and we met a few new people that I am sure we will be seeing again. Tanya’s company gave away a $500 gift certificate to one lucky winner, so I am positive we will be talking to her again. The food was very good. On the way out, I noticed they had a nice drought beer selection, so I have a feeling we will be …
