Ride To Neptune’s Net

Photos From the Break-In Ride to Neptune’s Net [adrotate group=”6″] Cruising the PCH As mentioned earlier, I got a new bike. Since I plan on taking a ride to Sturgis, SD in August, I need to get some miles on the engine so it will be properly broken in. Well, that is my excuse anyway. Yesterday I decided to cruise up the Pacific Coast Highway to Neptune’s Net. It is a popular biker hangout on Sundays, directly across the street from the ocean at the Los Angeles and Ventura county’s line. It was a great ride and I have a …

2010 Limited Break In Ride

The First 100 Miles [adrotate group=”6″] 2010 Harley-Davidson Limited Two weeks ago I was in Sioux Falls, SD and had the opportunity to take a test ride of the 2010 Harley-Davidson Limited. I was immediately won over. Two days ago I went over to Bartels’ Harley-Davidson and bought one. The first thing I needed to do was get 100 miles on it, so yesterday I took a little cruise to accomplish that. These are photos from that ride. Next goal, the 500 mile mark. [adrotate group=”1″]

Photos From the 51st Annual Torrance Armed Forces Day Parade

Torrance Armed Forces Day Parade [adrotate group=”6″] Photos From the 51st Annual Parade, May 15, 2010 Today was the 51st Annual Armed Forces Day Parade, held in Torrance CA. Although I have live in the South Bay since 1965, I am pretty sure that this is the first time I have attended this parade. I have to admit, it was a pretty nice parade. They had representatives of every branch of the armed services, and from what I gather, every year they honor a different branch of the military. This year was the US Coast Guard. They had a couple …

Photos from the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains

Bridgeport, Twin Lakes, Mono Lake and the Sierra Nevada Mountains We woke up in Bridgeport, which is one of those towns along US 395 that if you blink, you will miss it. Buddy and I began the day with a walk through town. That was enough to convince me that we were going to have to do a little exploring before we started the last leg of our journey home. I saw a sign for Twin Lakes and decided that we should go check them out. It was a great decision as the lakes and snow-capped mountains were very picturesque. …

Photos From Lake Tahoe and US 395

Pictures from along Lake Tahoe and US 395 [adrotate group=”6″] California and Nevada We spent the day driving around Lake Tahoe. It is amazing how long that can take when you are stopping as frequently as we do for picture taking. Tahoe was a bit chilly, but amazingly beautiful. After circling the lake we headed towards Yosemite. Unfortunately, Highway 120 was closed, so we had to figure out what to do about that. After driving back and forth on the 395 as we changed destinations, we decided to just head south and see what we see. That policy has worked …

Photos from Nevada

Nevada Photos [adrotate group=”6″] Wendover to South Lake Tahoe We left West Wendover, NV and headed west to Lake Tahoe. While it was a little chilly, it was nothing compared to the last several days. Since it was Cinco de Mayo, we decided to find a Mexican restaurant along the way for dinner. We landed in Sparks, NV at Cantina Los Tres Hombres. The food was tasty and they had a wide selection of tequilas to choose from. Alexis, our server made a couple nice suggestions and we left satisfied. From there it was a relatively short drive to South …

Photos From the Windy Plains

Photos From Wyoming and Utah [adrotate group=”6″] Independence Rock and Great Salt Lake Time is running out and there are still a lot of miles to go, so today was a lot of driving. Since we were driving through Wyoming and Utah it was easy to put on the miles as there was very little to stop and photograph. Coupled with the fact that the wind was 60+ in places, when we did stop to do anything, we usually did it quickly as it was really cold. We did spend a little time at Independence Rock, and walked around most …

Photos From Custer State Park

Photos Of Our Third Day In South Dakota [adrotate group=”6″] Our Visit To Custer State Park, Sturgis and Spearfish Today, Tanya and I spent a few hours cruising around Custer State Park. Neither of us had been there before, and thanks to a spontaneous turn and the input of a park ranger that noticed our cameras, we ventured far into the park. It was a wonderful decision as the photos will show. We took another detour north to Sturgis and Spearfish, as I wanted to show Tanya what it was that drove me to ride. I was amazed at what …

Photos of South Dakota Attractions

Photos From South Dakota, Day Two [adrotate group=”6″] Wall Drug, the Badlands, Bear Country and Mt Rushmore I have probably visited South Dakota ten times prior to this visit, but three places I never checked out were Wall Drug, Badlands National Park and Bear Country USA. Wall Drug is a tourist trap, but to be fair, they don’t gouge the visitor with their prices, so no complaints. I have always meant to visit the Badlands, but never got around to it. We left Wall Drug and headed the seven miles over to the park. I am not sure what the …

Photos From South Dakota Day One

South Dakota Photos [adrotate group=”6″] Sioux City To Wall, SD Great day! We are driving out of Sioux City and I [half] joked that we should find somewhere to dump Buddy for the day, and go rent a Harley. Of course I was not serious, but if it was thrown at me. . . Anyway, a hour down the road we spot a billboard for J&L Harley-Davidson in Sioux Falls. We decided to stop there to pick up a couple t-shirts. As it turns out, they were giving demo rides of the 2010 models. Next thing I knew, I had …
