Monday evening, Counseling4Kids.org held their first annual bowl-a-thon at the Palos Verdes Bowl in Torrance, CA to help kick off National Foster Care Awareness Month. Bowl4Kids is a fundraiser that brought together local businesses and service organizations for a little friendly competition while helping Couseling4Kids to provide mental health services to children in Los Angeles Countys foster care system. The event was sponsored by Whole Foods Market in Torrance, California Credit Union and Kaiser Permanente and included trophies for Top Bowling Team and Top Bowler; as well as prizes for Top Fundraiser and Top Fundraising Group. Additional fund raising was done via a silent auction that included many nice donations, including tickets to an LA Galaxy home game, several gift baskets, lunch a Andre’s Restaurant, dinner at Tony Roma’s and Elephant Bar, a day at Total Woman Gym, theater tickets, a deluxe party at PV Bowl and much more; including a great big basket of cookies from Daddy’s Gourmet Cookies. To be honest, that is the one I wanted, but I was too busy taking photos to get my bid in on time.
I became aware of Conseling4Kids through our involvement with the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce. Since we started attending the TACC Networking at Noon events, we have started providing door prizes; including SEO reports and photo coverage of events. I was very happy when Counseling4Kids won the photo shoot as I have a special place in my heart for foster children and any organization that helps them.
