’Twas a couple weeks before Christmas, when all through the pad We were hanging in the kitchen, for dinner was to be had; The roast was sliced and the wine I did pour, The dogs looking up as if to implore; Please drop some scraps right here on the floor; When out in the street there arose such a clatter, I grabbed my camera and went out to see what was the matter. Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce Holiday Mixer

These photos are of the 2011 Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Mixer, held at the Marriott Hotel in Torrance. It was a nice networking event that topped off the Networking at Noon function we had attended earlier in the day. We met some new people and reacquainted ourselves with some people that we had met earlier. Back to TACC Holiday Mixer Photos Back to TACC Holiday Mixer Photos

Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce Network at Noon

Today, Tanya and I went to our first Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce function. It was their December Network at Noon, which was held at Oliver’s Cafe in Redondo Beach. Synergy DTI is the parent company and since Tanya now lives in Torrance, we decided to join. I have to say, I am really looking forward to this. Business opportunities abound. I almost feel silly for not joining years ago. If you are a small business owner, I suggest at least checking out your local Chamber of Commerce. Business to business is good business. Here are a few photos from …

Christmas Lights at Candy Cane Lane in Sleepy Hollow 2011

These photos were taken on December 4, 2011 in Torrance, CA. Every year at this time the Sleepy Hollow section of Torrance goes all out with the Christmas decorations and the area is transformed into Candy Cane Lane. I remember the first time I went there. It made Disneyland’s nighttime lights seem rather tame in comparison. This is great fun for the entire family. You can drive up and down the streets, or park and enjoy the decorations up close, maybe meet Santa Claus himself or partake in some hot chocolate and homemade cookies. I usually go two or three …

Photos from Benihana, Torrance

To be honest, I try to avoid restaurants that are part of a chain. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule. In 2009, I introduced Tanya to Benihana’s and they suddenly became a chain restaurant that I became a regular diner. While I have become readily familiar with the “egg roll,” the “disco” onion and the “beating heart” rice, I can safely say that I have never left Benihana, Torrance hungry or disappointed. Here are a few photos from our frequent visits to this Teppanyaki style steak house. Back to Benihana Photos Back to Benihana Photos

Family photo

Another beautiful day in the neighborhood. It is tough to find a better way to start the day than a nice morning walk on a sunny morning. My picture of the day for day 41 of Project365 is of Buddy and me as we walk through Columbia Park, in Torrance.

How to get to Sleepy Hollow for Candy Cane Lane

After my post showing the Christmas lights in the Sleepy Hollow section of Torrance, I have had several people contact me asking how to get there. Since there are a few streets blocked off to assist with the traffic flow, I will tell you the easiest way to get there. For those of you that live in the South Bay, you are probably already familiar with Candy Cane Lane, but if not, it is in the area of Torrance bordered by Pacific Coast Highway, Prospect, Calle Mayor and Palos Verdes Blvd. The area is a little more compact than that, …

Photos of Christmas Lights in Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow Christmas 2010 Candy Cane Lane, Torrance I am not really sure when the Sleepy Hollow area of Torrance, CA first began dressing up as Candy Cane Lane for the Christmas season, but it has to be close to 20 years. I have brought a few people there over the years, and no one has ever left disappointed. For several blocks, most of the homes have set up extravagant displays, to the point that entire streets are lit up. Whether Santa is riding a surfboard, Harley or sleigh; or if there are reindeer or dolphins towing him along, there …

How did I get here?

I guess it is a good thing that I take a picture a day, or I might have a real problem keeping track of where I have been and what I have done. This has been a busy month to be sure. Time to catch up with my Project 365 updates. At midnight on Day 197, Tanya and I decided to drive up to Campbell, CA to visit Psycho Donuts. Unfortunately, we did not make it due to the fact that we forgot Tanya’s laptop at home. When we walked in the door I discovered a water inlet hose to …

Photos From the 51st Annual Torrance Armed Forces Day Parade

Torrance Armed Forces Day Parade [adrotate group=”6″] Photos From the 51st Annual Parade, May 15, 2010 Today was the 51st Annual Armed Forces Day Parade, held in Torrance CA. Although I have live in the South Bay since 1965, I am pretty sure that this is the first time I have attended this parade. I have to admit, it was a pretty nice parade. They had representatives of every branch of the armed services, and from what I gather, every year they honor a different branch of the military. This year was the US Coast Guard. They had a couple …
