The Dudes’ Brewing Kickoff Weekend

This weekend, the South Bay welcomed the latest microbrewery to the Southern California beer brewing scene, The Dudes’ Brewing Company which is located in Torrance, CA. Unlike most microbreweries, The Dudes’ does not currently have a tasting room, but rather have decided to break onto the scene by selling kegs to bars and restaurants, and will begin canning and distributing sometime in June of this year. There is talk of opening a tasting room in 2014 after they have their operation running exactly how they want. Saint Rocke to host 1st Annual Froth Awards

The Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach will host the 1st Annual Froth Awards, The Easy Reader Beer Experience and Gastropub Challenge, on March 17, 2013 and this is going to be a blast. The Froth Awards will feature the who’s who of the South Bay’s microbreweries, brewpubs and gastropubs who will put together five food and craft beer pairings. Last night we had another Business & Beer, this time returning to my favorite brewpub, The Brewery at Abigaile in Hermosa Beach. This was our first meetup in two weeks, and the first since Lent started, so I am not sure how much this combination contributed to our smaller than normal turnout. The Rockefeller has been one of our favorite destinations since we discovered them back in May. They offer a wide selection of craft beers on tap and have a food menu that seems to change with the seasons. You can always find something interesting on it. These photos are from the week 19 meeting of Business & Beer which was held at The Brewery at Abigaile in Hermosa Beach. The Brewery at Abigaile is my favorite brewpub and has one of the best varieties of in-house brewed beers of any of the local South Bay breweries. Thursday night, The Brewery at Abigaile hosted a “celebration of local craft beer” and the release of the October issue of Beach Magazine which is pretty much dedicated to the craft beer scene in the South Bay area. Last night we went to the Abigaile Fall Gathering open house in Hermosa Beach. If you read this blog with any regularity you have probably heard me mention them on numerous occasions as they house The Brewery at Abigaile. We discovered them during American Craft Beer Week when the manager at The Rockefeller recommended them to us. We quickly became big fans.
