Tuesday afternoon, August 20, the South Bay and Los Angeles area business owners and professionals held a fundraiser for Torrance Councilman Pat Furey’s campaign for Mayor of the City of Torrance at the Outback Steakhouse, who donated the food. Those that attended were treated to some very good food to go along with the networking and obligatory speeches. In addition to the business owners and professionals in attendance, Pat Furey was introduced by Congresswoman Maxine Waters, who was accompanied by her husband, Ambassador Sidney Williams. There were also several officials from surrounding cities like Lomita, Hawthorne and Lawndale in attendance to show their support for Councilman Furey’s election bid.
Councilman Furey spoke for a while, telling his history and his visions for the future of Torrance. He also talked about the lack of foster families in Torrance and a new push that is going on to change that. I have known the councilman for more than 20 years and nothing has changed; he has always been involved helping kids and helping the city overall. That is why I am putting my support behind his campaign. He explained that is costs between $75,000 – $100,000 to run a campaign of this size, if you would like to help in any way, please visit the Pat Furey for Mayor website, http://www.patfureyformayor.com/.
