Networking at Noon at Ortega 120

Today we went to Ortega 120 in Redondo Beach for another Networking at Noon. I am sure it was pure coincidence that the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) scheduled two Networking at Noon events this month with the second one falling on National Tequila Day, and Ortega 120 boasting over 120 different kinds of tequila. I know I was not complaining. I have been to Ortega 120 a couple times, both being on Cinco de Mayo, so it was always really crowded. Going there for lunch gave me the opportunity to look around and check out the decor; it …

Networking at Noon: Lisa’s Bon Appetit

Today was the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce’s (TACC) July Networking at Noon; this time held at Lisa’s Bon Appetit located at 3511 Pacific Coast Hwy in Torrance, CA. Lisa’s Bon Appetit is a catering service that also has a cafe for dining in, as well as a banquet room (which we used) and a bakery. They have been in Torrance for 33 years, so obviously they are doing something right. I can tell you that their french dip was nice and I really liked the bread on Tanya’s sandwich. Everything is made there from scratch, so as you can …

TACC Networking at Noon for June at Tony Roma’s

Yesterday was the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) Networking at Noon for June; and this time it was held at the Tony Roma’s in Torrance. The Networking at Noon is held monthly at various restaurants in the Torrance, CA area and gives members of the Torrance Chamber additional opportunities to exchange business cards with other local business owners or their representatives. Every attendee is given 30 seconds to talk about who they are and what service or product their business provides. I took the opportunity to explain why it is I have my camera with me at all times …

TACC May Networking at Noon at Aimee’s Bistro

Today, Tanya and I joined the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) at Aimee’s Bistro in Redondo Beach for the May meeting of their Networking at Noon. The TACC Networking at Noon is a monthly gathering of Chamber members; usually held at a local restaurant. So far we have been pretty lucky with the host restaurant, but today we really scored by having it at Aimee’s Bistro. The food was delicious. I see a return in my future; maybe do a review on it. The networking event is one of the perks of being a member of the Torrance Area …

April Networking at Noon at The Crest

Tuesday was the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce’s April Networking at Noon; this time being held at The Crest on Cabrillo in downtown Torrance. The monthly Networking at Noon is a great way for Chamber members to meet informally over a [usually] nice lunch, exchange business cards and give a 30 second introduction to remind people what service their business provides. It is also an opportunity for the host restaurant to showcase their establishment. Unfortunately, I think The Crest proved to be a pretty poor place to try and conduct a meeting. Sharing an area with regular bar customers was …

Networking at Noon at the Alpine Village

Today we met with the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) again for another Networking at Noon; this time at the Alpine Inn at Alpine Village in Torrance, CA. It was a well attended event and we met a few new people that I am sure we will be seeing again. Tanya’s company gave away a $500 gift certificate to one lucky winner, so I am positive we will be talking to her again. The food was very good. On the way out, I noticed they had a nice drought beer selection, so I have a feeling we will be …

TACC Networking at Noon for February

These photos are from the TACC Networking at Noon lunch at Depot Restaurant in Torrance, CA. Back in December I mentioned that Tanya and I had joined the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce and while I was out of town and Tanya was not in any condition to go anywhere in January, we are back into the swing of things and will be whenever we are in town. Today was the Networking at Noon, held the Depot Restaurant in downtown Torrance. They are celebrating 20 years in business, so I guess Chef Shafer is doing something right. It was a …

BNI Noon Networkers at South End Racquet Club

Last week at a Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce event, I was approached about coming to a meeting of the BNI Noon Networkers at the South End Racquet and Tennis Club, which was held today. BNI stands for Business Networking International, an global business networking organization that has been around for 25 years. The premise is that each chapter limits membership to one business per category. For example, at the networking event I attended today, there was a realtor, dentist, graphic artist, auto mechanics, computer repair person and several other occupations represented. I was invited since they wanted a photographer …

Torrance Chamber of Commerce: Would I join again? Pros and Cons

When I started writing the story about my experience with the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC), I knew that this would have to be broken up into at least three parts. There was too much to say, and it would have been ancient history by the time I got everything documented in the proper order. My goal in the first two parts was simple; give the back story to my time with the TACC and what happened when I was called into Donna Duperon’s office. I did my best to not editorialize or give my opinion; I wanted to …

TACC Chairman of the Board: Less than .5% of membership are complaining

Since this is part two of my saga with the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC); and some may not have read part one, I will summarize to bring you up to speed. I photograph everything. I use the photos to promote people and places. We joined the TACC last December. I photographed many TACC events, gave free publicity to local businesses that are Chamber members, promoted non-profits and shot an event at the request of the TACC President and CEO, Donna Duperron. On August 9, Donna told me camera was no longer allowed at Chamber events, even though other …
