Business N Beer, a new kind of networking group

Since we joined the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce late last year, we have had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with many small business owners in the South Bay area. Through these interactions I have been invited to join several service clubs and business networking groups. While I wish I had the time and money to join every service club the fact is I do not, so I volunteer my services to help publicize their fundraisers. As far as networking groups are concerned, I can definitely see the value in them but they all seem to come with obligations …

Hot Sünner Nights at Select Beer

These photos were taken Wednesday evening, June 20, the first day of summer at Select Beer in Redondo Beach. To celebrate the Summer Solstice, Select Beer brought out the Sünner Kölsch, the classic beer of Cologne, Germany. After a couple tastes of it, there is no doubt it is a summer beer as it is very light. Probably tasty after chopping down trees in the Black Forest. I know the store was packed, and it was obvious most were there for the Sunner Kolsch. After sampling the Sünner Kölsch we opted for something a little more stout and enjoyed the …

American Craft Beer Week: 1321 Taproom and Hudson House

Day three of the 7th Annual American Craft Beer Week found us at 1321 Downtown Taproom in Torrance and Hudson House in Redondo Beach. It has been a year since my first visit to 1321 Taproom and my first visit to Hudson House. Actually, I never heard of Hudson House prior to yesterday, so this search for different craft beers is definitely introducing me to new places in the South Bay. We started off at 1321 Downtown Taproom because they serve flights and we were not planning on dining. It turns out that was a good plan since they apparently …

American Craft Beer Week: Naja’s Place Redondo Beach

It is American Craft Beer Week and I have decided to try and find as many American craft beers as possible in the South Bay. I started my search at Naja’s Place on the International Boardwalk on the Redondo Beach Pier. Tanya has been taken off the Methotrexate that has prevented her from enjoying a nice beer, she is going to be able to join me on this adventure. Since Naja’s Place has 88 beers on tap, it seemed like the best place to start. Unfortunately, Naja’s does not offer flights, but the bartender, Kara, was kind enough to provide …

TACC May Networking at Noon at Aimee’s Bistro

Today, Tanya and I joined the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) at Aimee’s Bistro in Redondo Beach for the May meeting of their Networking at Noon. The TACC Networking at Noon is a monthly gathering of Chamber members; usually held at a local restaurant. So far we have been pretty lucky with the host restaurant, but today we really scored by having it at Aimee’s Bistro. The food was delicious. I see a return in my future; maybe do a review on it. The networking event is one of the perks of being a member of the Torrance Area …

Valentines Soiree at Redondo Beach Castle

Last night we headed back over to the Redondo Beach Castle for another fundraiser, this time with a portion of the proceeds going to ChildHelp.org. Child Help is an organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse. The Redondo Beach Castle is owned by Lady of Magic, Sisuepahn Phila who puts on a great magic show. The evening also included live music, wine tasting provided by Tom Stangl of the South Bay Wine Lovers Meet Up, more magic by Dave Cox and a belly dancer. It was an entertaining evening for a good cause. Judging by the photos, …

New Years Eve at the Redondo Beach Castle

In 2012, GotBaddog.com is planning on focusing more time promoting charity fundraisers and local events. To start this off, Tanya and I attended the Lady of Magic fundraiser at the Redondo Beach Castle, in Redondo Beach, CA. The fundraiser was for the Midnight Mission, which is a homeless shelter in downtown Los Angeles. The Redondo Beach Castle is is owned by world-class magician and “Entertainers to the Stars” Sisuepahn Phila and Brian Gillis. It was a very nice party with live music provided by the Kevin McCarthy Concept, food, a DJ and some amazing magic. I did my best to …

20th Annual King Harbor Boat Parade

Saturday evening was the 20th Annual King Harbor Boat Parade in Redondo Beach. After spending the day at the Mooneye’s Christmas car show and drag races, I packed up the camera and Tanya and headed down to King Harbor. We decided to have dinner at On the Rocks since they were located at the perfect location to watch the parade. The Christmas boat parade consisted of various boats that are docked in Redondo Beach, getting decorated with lights and sailing in a circle around the marina. It was a little difficult to determine just how many boats were participating, but …

Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce Network at Noon

Today, Tanya and I went to our first Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce function. It was their December Network at Noon, which was held at Oliver’s Cafe in Redondo Beach. Synergy DTI is the parent company and since Tanya now lives in Torrance, we decided to join. I have to say, I am really looking forward to this. Business opportunities abound. I almost feel silly for not joining years ago. If you are a small business owner, I suggest at least checking out your local Chamber of Commerce. Business to business is good business. Here are a few photos from …
